Rosé King Sacha Lichine and his wife Mathilde hosted three hundred guests at Chateau d’Esclans Domaines Sacha Lichine Whispering Angel in Provence to celebrate its 10-year anniversary on Saturday night, July 2nd. Guests travelled from New York, London, Paris, Russia, Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore to drink, dine and dance in a custom clear tent on the lawn, hung with dozens of crystal chandeliers, hydrangeas and pink lighting constructed on the grounds by Belgian craftsmen. Pete Moore’s Martini Nation 10 piece swing band played classics and disco throughout the night. The crowd was treated to truffle towers during the Whispering Angel aperitif and a delicious dinner catered by the exquisite Restaurant Chez Bruno of Lorgues—featuring a non-stop pour of the estate’s Chateau d’Esclans Rock Angel, Les Clans and Garrus- the world’s most expensive still rosé.
The guest list, many of which arrived by boat, helicopter and limousine, included ‘crystal stemware magnate ‘Maximilian Reidel, Steve and Christine Schwarzman, England’s Guy Sangster and his wife Fiona, assorted Mitterands Nina Griscom & Leonel Piraino, Basil Charles of Mustique, Lichine’s sister Carole Delouvrierand husband Philippe, Miami food boss Lee Schrager and international culinary head Dorothy Hamilton. Dinner featured a large screen slideshow with soundtrack including songs by Frank Sinatra and The Rolling Stones as well as voice overs from a Humphrey Bogart movie, all representing Lichine’s journey to elevate his wines and company to such remarkable success over the past decade.
Over 600 bottles of wine were poured and 375 pounds of black truffles were provided by Restaurant Chez Bruno of Lorgues and La Beau Graviere of Mondragon. Each guest left with a bag of Sugarfina Gummies infused with Whispering Angel.
